The Eastern Ontario Agri-Food Network (EOAN) and Collège La Cité are working together to support the agri-food sector in eastern Ontario. La Cité’s Office of Applied Research and Innovation (OARI) specializes in supporting innovation in biotechnology, smart prototyping, and food processing. Examples of completed projects are available here. For example, a local company, “Against the Grain Farms” in Winchester, was previously supported in the development of a flour mixture.
As part of applied research projects, companies have access to the expertise of professors, students, research staff, specialized equipment, and funding to support the development of their products. Innovation support services are tailored to the specific needs of companies. In the context of food development, the services offered may include life and product stability studies, the development of new food products, nutritional and microbiological analyses, and the enhancement of co-products.
To better explain the support that can be provided to food producers in the region, please view the following overview of about 7 minutes. It presents Collège La Cité’s research expertise in food development. Examples of completed projects will be presented, as well as the available equipment and staff expertise.
