Ottawa Innovation Farm @ Area X.O

Posted on : 2025-11-27

A national hub for testing, validating, and scaling Canadian ag innovation.

Who we are
Ottawa Innovation Farm is Invest Ottawa’s AgTech testing and demonstration program, located at Area X.O — Canada’s secure, 5G-enabled test site. With small research plots, two mid-sized fields, and advanced tech (robotics, drones, AI, sensors), we help turn promising ag innovations into producer-ready solutions. Close to AAFC, CFIA, and Health Canada, we align trials with regulatory needs from day one.

What we offer

  • Born Certified™ – Support to navigate PMRA, CFIA, and AAFC requirements through clinics, workshops, and regulator engagement.

  • Pitch-to-Pilot™ – Match innovators with producers for real-world pilots in robotics, data-driven tools, and biologicals.

  • Data-to-Decisions (D2D) – Field and equipment data turned into ROI-focused dashboards that guide adoption.

  • Ecosystem Engagement Program – Year-round connections among innovators, producers, regulators, and community partners.

Why Ottawa?
Cross-industry tech infrastructure, direct access to regulators, producer-focused trial design, and standardized data methods across the national network.

Who we work with
Innovators, producers, partners, and policymakers committed to advancing Canadian agriculture.
